Waste-tyre crumb rubber modified binder (IS 15462 / IS 17079)
Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen (CRMB) is bitumen modified with crumb rubber recovered from waste tyres, improving elasticity, fatigue life and temperature susceptibility while consuming a waste material. Common grades include CRMB 50, CRMB 55 and CRMB 60.
CRMB delivers much of the performance of PMB, often at lower cost, and supports the circular economy by reusing scrap tyre rubber. It is widely used on highways and heavy-traffic urban roads.
- Cost-effective performance — strong results, usually cheaper than PMB
- Uses waste tyres — consumes crumb rubber, an environmental plus
- Better elasticity & life — improved fatigue and rut resistance
- Temperature tolerant — performs across hot Indian summers
- Standard grades — CRMB 50 / 55 / 60 to suit climate zones
- National & state highways and heavy-traffic city roads
- Hot-mix wearing and binder courses
- Regions prioritising waste-tyre reuse / green procurement
- Overlays and strengthening of existing pavements

Hot climates favour CRMB; waste-tyre availability; cost-sensitive highway works.
